Should Kansas be known as a regional abortion destination?
Kansas is one of nine states targeted for lobbying efforts by three pro-abortion groups, where a reported $150 million will be spent ahead of the 2022 midterms, according to a recent report from Politico. The groups – Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and EMILY’s List – want to influence Kansas voters who will be choosing a Governor and voting on the Value Them Both Amendment this fall.
These organizations want the status quo to remain in Kansas, which has seen abortion numbers grow significantly over the last three years, according to the Kansas Department of Health & Environment.
Last year saw the state’s largest increase in the annual abortion rate in the last 25 years. Since the 2019 ruling by the Kansas Supreme Court in the Hodes & Nauser v. Schmidt case, which allowed nearly unlimited abortions through a change in the state constitution, KDHE has recorded the following increases in our state:
13% increase in the overall annual number of abortions
17% increase in live dismemberment abortions performed
16% increase in abortions performed on out-of-state residents
The supreme court ruling also overturned a live dismemberment abortion ban and a clinic safety, sanitation, and inspection law, both struck down in 2021.
When you see Governor Kelly’s campaign commercials claiming she is a middle-of-the-road candidate, remember her support for virtually any effort to kill unborn babies.
The Value Them Both Amendment, which deserves your yes vote on the primary ballot this August, will get us back to the point before the 2019 change was made. It will allow us to take our proper place as a state where unborn babies are cherished, rather than destroyed.
